Chopard adds a new gem to its Alpine Eagle collection with the introduction of the Alpine Eagle Summit, a 41mm series with stunningly framed dials.
When three generations of men in the Scheufele family introduced the Alpine Eagle collection in 2019, it represented a contemporary reinterpretation of the St. Moritz, the inaugural timepiece crafted by Chopard Co-President Karl-Friedrich Scheufele in the late 1970s. Now, the collection has reached greater heights — or perhaps the better word is Summit.
This new series not only pays homage to its predecessor, but also draws inspiration from the robust beauty of nature.
Dials inspired by the splendor of the Alpine landscape
A key highlight of the Summit series is the stunning array of dial and bezel combinations, marrying ethical gold with a gradient of gemstones. The collection includes four variations: Yellow gold with pink sapphires, white gold with blue and purple sapphires, white gold with tsavorites, and rose gold with spessartites.
The dials, inspired by the natural hues of the Alpine landscape, bear evocative names like “Golden Peak,” “Zinal Blue,” “Vals Grey,” and “Pink Dawn,” — colors achieved through a PVD treatment on a brass dial. The meticulous gem-setting on the bezels, incorporating baguette-cut gemstones, adds a touch of mesmerizing color gradation.
The most striking of all would be “Zinal Blue”, which bears the name and color of the Zinal Glacier in the Swiss Alps. The dial’s eagle-eye radiating pattern captivates with a seamless transition between shades of blue and purple. This nuanced play of colors mirrors the glacier’s shimmering reflections, creating a spectacle frozen in time.
An Alpine Eagle inspired by the outdoors, for indoors
The 18-carat gold used in these timepieces, as in all Chopard creations since July 2018, adheres to stringent ethical standards. With its in-house precious metals foundry, Chopard maintains control over its value chain, embodying a responsible approach to environmental stewardship.
The Chopard 01.15-C movement, visible through a transparent sapphire crystal caseback, powers these timepieces. Certified by the Official Swiss Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC), the movement’s 60-hour power reserve and stop-seconds function for precise time-setting further underscore the brand’s unwavering pursuit of precision and excellence.
No one will stop you from wearing one of these timepieces out on the open hills as you belt out ‘The Hills are Alive’ for all sorts of forest creatures to hear, but akin to a sports watch the Alpine Eagle may be (it’s all in that integrated sports bracelet), this Summit collection is meant to be something more. No doubt one that’s more glamorous, and celebrates the grandeur of the environment that inspires each masterpiece — whether worn by a mountain explorer or a simple spectator of nature.
