They say that wearing a watch in today’s era of smartphones is an act of rebellion. If this is so, what more joyous way to rebel could there be than this latest Tourbillon wristwatch from Strumenti Nautici? When this characterful timepiece arrived on my desk, the initial energetic impression that the watch possesses was quickly overtaken by immense satisfaction at all of it’s little details. With impressively thoughtful design, a self winding automatic Tourbillon within a titanium case, 200m water resistance, and a rough-and-ready-for-anything Cerakote finish, the Strumenti Nautici Tourbillon has a lot to offer. I can’t deny being impressed by the high quality construction of this fun, yet refined, unique wristwatch, especially in the context of its excellent affordability. Those seeking an elegant Tourbillon with adventurous spirit may just have struck upon the ultimate horological sidekick.

A Window To Mechanical Mastery: The Pleasure Of A Tourbillon
For those who fall in love with the intricate inner workings of the world’s finest watches, an exposed Tourbillon offers endless fascination. The Strumenti Nautici Tourbillon features an open cage within the dial, providing a window to the minuscule moving parts within. I was struck by the impressive affordability of this model when set against it’s competitors. With few automatic Tourbillons available on the market at such an accessible price point, I’m sure that – as this high quality timepiece gains momentum in the marketplace – it will become a highly coveted item. The extremely limited nature of each Strumenti Nautici wristwatch will, I suspect, make them highly collectible in years to come. Fun Meets Precision, Within A High Quality Titanium Case

The watch on my wrist – in powerful red and black – features a dial worthy of exploration. With depth, detail, and endless interest, there is much to see. The configuration offers a whimsical day and night indicator at three o’clock, and the Tourbillon cage at six o’clock. The large date window at twelve o’clock can be quick set by an accompanying 3D printed date setting pusher. The idea that Tourbillon technology, dating back to the late eighteenth century is now hybridized with ultra-modern craftsmanship such as 3D printing and Cerakote is deliciously exciting to imagine. The use of Grade 2 titanium in watch manufacturing is also fantastically on the cutting edge. With a case diameter of 46mm, and a height of 15mm, the Strumenti Nautici Tourbillon is impressively light on the wrist thanks to this low density, and high strength metal. The titanium case is also water resistant up to 200m, making it an excellent choice for water sports and diving enthusiasts.

Cerakote provides an ultra modern ceramic finish with real character. This exceedingly tough and durable fine coating is highly sought after in weapons manufacture, of all things. To use it on a watch creates not only a fascinating back-story, but perhaps the pinnacle of tenacious timekeepers. Boasting corrosion resistance, and enduring protection against bumps and scrapes, wearers can be confident that their watch is ready for whatever they take on. Strumenti Nautici’s brilliant solution is to provide adjustable straps. Strap colors currently offered include red, black, and gray.

Assembled, Regulated, And Tested In The US
The high quality Strumenti Nautici range is a true red white and blue piece of Americana, with small-scale US industry at the heart of it’s synthesis. The date setting pusher is printed in the US, and the Cerakote is hand finished on American soil, allowing for an organic evolution of the brand’s color combinations. I’d stake that on the high quality and affordability spectrum, there is little to no competition for this timepiece. Most Tourbillons at this price point not only require winding, but max out in stainless steel, with 50m water resistance. With features such as use of titanium, outstanding water resistance, and automatic self-winding, the Strumenti Nautici Tourbillon automatic watch is in a league of it’s own. Strumenti Nautici has an exciting launch on Kickstarter which quickly meet their funding goal. I, for one, will be intrigued to see what this innovative brand achieves, and how their ambitiously competitive offering will penetrate the hearts and minds of horology’s thrumming collectors’ culture. So far, they’re off to a great start. Their early success is a testament that true watch aficionados appreciate value and quality.
