Wei got together with Akio Naito, President of Seiko Watch Corporation, to have a conversation about Grand Seiko’s past and present.
The discussion starts with Naito’s humble beginnings with the brand and how he managed to introduce a localized Japanese brand to the world starting with the US market in 2016.
The brand created the first-ever Grand Complication, the Grand Seiko Kodo Constant Force Tourbillon in 2022, which took 10 years to develop. He discussed the quality of craftsmanship in the movement must be met with the same amount of vigorous stringiness of the design and finishing on the watches as well.
The conversation concluded with Naito’s vision of Grand Seiko becoming a leading global watchmaker and how he plans to expand the brand’s presence around the world.
