Nicknamed “Tsuyosa,” which is Japanese for “strength”, this new Citizen model is a breath of fresh air.

A historic brand that has reshaped the landscape of watchmaking time and again through the introduction of many world firsts, Citizen recently unveiled the Citizen NJ0150 Automatic series, which has been nicknamed “Tsuyosa,” which is Japanese for “strength.” This vintage-style dress watch arrives with a brushed and polished case and integrated bracelet, and its sunray dial is available in five different colors – black, blue, green, turquoise and yellow.

A globally beloved Japanese brand that has been challenging itself in terms of craftsmanship, creativity and innovation since its founding in 1918, Citizen is often underrated because it sells its watches at very accessible price points.

The manufacture prides itself upon its slogan “Better Starts Now” and its litany of timepieces. Among this wide variety of high-accuracy quartz and solar watches, the pinnacle among these is, of course, the Eco-Drive of 1976, a special invention that was engineered to harness solar power from any natural or artificial light source. Citizen’s continual advancement of Eco-Drive technology culminated in the Eco-Drive 365, which was launched in Spring 2023 with a one-year power reserve, hence its name.

The new Citizen NJ0150 is driven by another technically advanced movement – the in-house automatic Cal.8210, which vibrates at 21,600 vph and can be admired through its transparent case back. The new movement is housed in a beautiful integrated stainless steel case and bracelet. The case, with crown at 4 o’clock, has been chamfered and finished with brushing and polishing, while every link of its slim and tastefully sculpted bracelet has been brushed and polished too.

The vivid sunray dial is available in five colors and is complemented by luminous hands and baton-shaped markers. Last but certainly not least, a magnifying lens sits above the Citizen NJ0150’s 3 o’clock date window, which improves the legibility of the date while contrasting the dial’s captivating sunray finish.
