A manufacture that has been making horological history and building high-precision chronometers since 1832, Longines is also the owner of the oldest trademark in watchmaking. Today, the expansive heritage of Longines continues to attract new customers. Instead of unveiling its novelties all at once, Longines has decided this year to stagger its releases over the entire year, which will pay tribute to Longines icons like the Conquest, Dolcevita, Heritage, Master, Spirit Zulu and Ultra-Chron collections.
The brand just unveiled the first of its Spring releases, the Longines Spirit Flyback, which is a tip of the hat to the first serial chronograph with flyback function that Longines invented in 1925. As you might be aware, a flyback chronograph literally ‘flies back’ at the push of a button. While other chronographs will require you to stop the chronograph hand, reset it and start it again in order to take a new lap timing, a flyback chronograph’s chronograph hand starts clocking a new lap instantly at the push of one button. This function enables the wearer to time multiple laps in rapid succession.
